As part of Phase II of the Istanbul Saraçhane Lighting Masterplan, jointly developed by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Istanbul Enerji, the facade and landscape lighting design of the Istanbul City Hall Building has been implemented. Built in the 1960s with a strong modernist architectural vision, the building is one of the most prominent civic landmarks in the city. Designed by Turkish architect Nevzat Erol, it is regarded as a key example of post-war modernism in Turkey, reflecting the period’s national architectural discourse. The lighting design highlights the building’s distinct geometry while integrating it respectfully into Istanbul’s nighttime silhouette. The result is a refined, contemporary lighting approach that reinforces both the building’s historical value and its role in the urban identity.
